Sesame Chicken With Green Beans

sesame chicken

This Sesame Chicken is so simple and delicious, slow cooked for ultimate flavor and tenderness in your crockpot, takeout fakeout at its best! I love that you only need a few drops of sesame oil to bring out that amazing flavor. I served this over quinoa but you could eat it plain if you prefer. I also added steamed green beans for a veggie and left out the traditional cornstarch-enhanced sauce; we didn’t miss it.

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 cups green beans, fresh or frozen, steamed and cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons minced onion
  • 1 jalapeño, finely diced

From Your Store Cupboard:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red peppers
  • sesame seeds

What to do:

  • Add chicken to slow cooker
  • Combine brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, garlic, minced onion, jalapeño, barbecue sauce and crushed red peppers
  • Pour sauce over chicken and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until chicken is no longer pink
  • Stir in green beans and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with quinoa and green beans
